  29. THIS FILE

  31.         This file contains all the information on how to use this disk
  32.         to make Cards for all occassions, both in Color, if you have a
  33.         color printer, and in shades of grey, if you only have a normal
  34.         printer.
  35.         It also tells you how to make your own Pictures and set them up
  36.         so that you can make cards of your own design and wording.

  54. PREFERENCES
  55.  
  56.         The Preferences are controlled by the SetAmiga program which is
  57.         located in the `C' Directory.
  58.         Supplied on the disk are 3 Icons labeled setup
  59.  
  60.                 1.      Default.
  61.  
  62.                                 Returns all the preference settings to the
  63.                                 Standard WorkBench Settings.
  64.  
  65.                 2.      EpsonXPrefs
  66.  
  67.                                 Changes the Preference Settings to use an
  68.                                 Epson Compatible Printer in Shades of Grey.
  69.                                 It also sets the Graphics 1 settings to
  70.                                 VERTICAL.
  71.                                 And Graphics 2 is set to give an offset of
  72.                                 0.2 inches. A picture width of 3.6 inches.
  73.                                 And makes the settings BOUNDED.

  76.                 3.      OkiPrefs
  77.  
  78.                                 This does every thing the same as No.2, but
  79.                                 changes the printer to an Okimate 20 Color
  80.                                 Printer.

  82.                 To use the Preference Icons for your own Preferences:
  84.                 Make an Icon by copying any of the Preference.info files
  85.                 and rename it say "MyPrefs1.info".
  86.  
  87.                 Then open "Prefererences" or if you use it "Pprefs".

  89.                 Set up your Preferences the way you want them. Your Printer,
  90.                 Print density,Offset,Print width ect. (see the examples on
  91.                 this disk to get the idea.

  93.                 When you have set your Preferences the way you want them
  94.                 Click on the save gadget and this will save them to the
  95.                 System-Configuration file
  96.  
  97.                 Using a Disk Utility program. Copy the System-Configuration
  98.                 file to the Print-A-Card Disk and rename it MyPrefs1.
  99.  
  100.                 Now whenever you click on the MyPrefs1 Icon the SetAmiga
  101.                 Program will reset your Preferences the way you want them.
  102.  
  103.                 You can make as many of these Preference files as you wish.
  104.                 Just remember to use short names that discribe what the file
  105.                 sets.

  107.                 Examples
  108.  
  109.                 1.  LHPrefs     Set up to print small picture on the left
  110.                                 side of the paper.
  111.  
  112.                 2.  RHPrefs     Set up to print small picture on the right
  113.                                 side of the paper.
  114.  
  115.                 3.  CSPrefs     Set up to print small picture centered on
  116.                                 the page.
  117.  
  118.                 4.  CBPrefs     Set up to print big picture centered on the
  119.                                 page.

  122. THE PICTURE FILES
  123.  
  124.                 These Picture file are for you to use to make your cards
  125.                 They will not suit everyone or be suitable for all
  126.                 occassions.

  128.                 I have made all the Pictures with DPAINT but they could
  129.                 have been made with any paint program which can handle Fonts
  130.  
  131.                 The pictures which are not text (i.e Xmas1) are pictures
  132.                 obtained from various slideshow disks and are, as far as I
  133.                 am aware, in the Public Domain.
  134.  
  135.                 All the pictures which are text (i.e Xmas1.txt) I have made
  136.                 using DPAINT and a variety of fonts.
  137.  
  138.                 They all have DPAINT Icons which have been altered to
  139.                 use ppshow. Which is in the "C" Directory.

  142. How to Print a Card
  143.  
  144.                 1.  Take a sheet of A4 paper and either fold it in half or
  145.                     make a mark half way down the sheet.

  161.                 2.  Place the sheet of paper in your printer and wind it
  162.                     through until the half way mark is about 3/8"(1mm) past
  163.                     the ribbon guide.
  164.  
  165.                 3.  Double Click on your Preference Icon. Try a black
  166.                     and white one first to get the Idea.
  167.                     This will set the Preferences to print a vertical
  168.                     picture 3.6 inches wide by about 4.25 inches high on the
  169.                     bottom left hand side of the paper.

  171.                 4.  Double Click on a Picture file (i.e Xmas1).
  172.                     The picture will be loaded by ppshow.
  173.  
  174.                 5.  To Print the picture just press "p".
  175.  
  176.                 6.  Remove the sheet of paper from your Printer. With the
  177.                     Picture to the back and bottom put the paper back in the
  178.                     printer.
  179.  
  180.                 7.  Wind the Paper through just past the halfway mark again.
  181.  
  182.                 8.  Clear the picture by clicking the Right Mouse Button
  183.                     and select the text picture you want to print.
  184.  
  185.                 9.  Repeat steps 5 - 7.

  187.                12.  When you take the paper out of the printer this time.
  188.                     Fold it lengthways in half with the pictures outside.
  189.                     Then fold it in half again to form your card.
  190.                     The inside left is blank for you to write you personal
  191.                     message whilst the inside right has a verse printed on
  192.                     it.

  195. ppshow
  196.  
  197.                 The ppshow is a Public Domain graphic utility by
  198.                 Nico Francoise and can be found in the `C' directory
  199.  
  200.                 If you wish to use the program on your own disks just copy
  201.                 it to your `C' directory. And change the Icon info file of
  202.                 the picture you wish to show or print to `:c/ppshow'.
  203.  
  204. Palette
  205.  
  206.                 Palette is not the same program as found in the Utilities
  207.                 Drawer on Workbench.
  208.  
  209.                 That program will only allow you to change the colors
  210.                 temporarily and doesn't allow you to save the changes.
  211.  
  212.                 This Palette does allow you to save all 8 colors.
  213.                 If you have a 16 color Workbench it will allow you
  214.                 to change and save all 16 colors.
  215.  
  216.                 If you would like to use it on your own 8 or 16 color
  217.                 Workbench just copy the file and it Icon to your own disk.
